Michael Schuler spent over four decades in the computer and electronics secondary market building resale channels, creating the industry's first computer trade-in program with Apple and growing a regional PC service parts company into a hundred-million-dollar operation with seven hundred employees across five facilities. As founder and CEO of Veterans Alliance Resourcing, Inc., he built one of the first R2v3 Certified ITAD companies in the US, earning Inc5000 recognition before selling the company in 2023. He now serves as an ITAD consultant, product remarketer, and expert witness for product valuation through Tech Remarketers LLC. Before his business career, Mr. Schuler served in the United States Marine Corps, spanning two years of advanced electronics coursework across five USN and USAF schools including the Precision Measurement Electronics Laboratory (PMEL) at Lowry Air Force Base. That training in controlled environments, NIST-traceable metrology standards, and electronic test equipment calibration and repair informs the technical precision of EVRIM's scientific architecture — and the character of Dr. Elara Vogt, whose PMEL background parallels this experience.
In 2024, Mr. Schuler began a year of deliberate immersion into artificial intelligence and quantum computing, not as a consumer but as a student of its implications. While writing EVRIM, he completed Outskill's AI Generalist certification in January 2026, a 100+ hour curriculum covering more than a dozen AI platforms and tools, deepening the technical grounding that informs the novel's architecture in real time as the manuscript reached its final form.
EVRIM was written in collaboration with Claude, Anthropic's AI, across an extended series of conversations traversing science, philosophy, technology, religion and literature. The 2.1 million words and over 9,200 pages of research, brainstorming, revisions, and theoretical discussions document this collaboration. Together they produced something neither could have achieved alone. That collaboration, between humans and AI, is also one of EVRIM's central themes.
